Here The Three Best Sports Video Games In 2011

When thinking of the best video games put out in 2011, there really is no other genre of games like the sports genre. Though many people believe that playing actual sports is much better, not everyone is able to play these sports. Video games are able to give the player a way to fulfill these dreams that often are a little to far-fetched to achieve. Many children and even adults dream to be the next NBA star or the next Tiger Woods, so playing sports video games is the only way to live out that dream. Here are some of the best sports games to hit the gaming scene this year.

NHL 2k11

With a 6.5 rating on IGN, it definitely is one of the best hockey games to hit the shelves in a long time. This series has been seen as "dead"for quite some time now and finally 2k11 is able to revive the series. The quality of this video game is unlike any other hockey game that you have played before and it offers a few more career modes that can definitely keep you addicted for quite some time.

NBA 2k11

Now that the NBA is going through the lockout, there really is no other way to enjoy the wonderful game of basketball except to play NBA 2k11. The graphics seem to be getting better every year and this new version definitely does not disappoint. With an 8 out of 10 rating on IGN, this is a legit sports video game that deserves the attention that it has been receiving. Though many people have been criticizing the NBA games to be quite repetitive, what can you expect from a game that focuses on sports? Sports games are made to be repetitive because that is the very nature of the sport. As the concept of these games stay the same, the quality and enjoyment definitely will be the factors that improve annually.

Tiger Woods 2011

As one of the most realistic sports video games out today, the Tiger Woods series continues to improve almost every year. Though many people will say that golf is not even a sport, millions of people all over the world still enjoy the game. There have been different golf games to hit the shelves in the past year but it seems as if the Tiger Woods franchise is the only one that can pull off golf as a game. The best new feature for the 2011 game is the new golf courses that they feature and it seems as if they fixed up a few of the problems that plenty complained about in the past.

If you are looking for the best sports video games to play right now, you definitely have to give these 2011 games a shot. There has been many talks as to whether or not NBA 2k12 will be released so it is best to grab 2011 and have the latest NBA game out today. While 2011 is coming to a close, it is still a good idea to try these games out.

No Gimmicks! (Get Paid to Play Video Games)

Gaming has become such a lucrative market. Many online games even require a monthly subscription and allow game makers to continually profit on their games. Very popular games even market to their players both in and out of game to make even more money. It's unfortunate that all of this money goes to the game makers and without you, the player, this would be impossible. It's simply not fair and I believe a change is due. But how do you as a player make money from the games you play when many games will ban you for various ways of making money?

Gaming has become so popular that in some countries it's considered a sport. People love gaming, from computers to consoles and even now smart phones. People play for competition, they also play to relax and unwind and now they can even get paid. People have known about beta testing video games for a long time, there is nothing new there. But what about getting paid to do tasks in game, as in: game tasks. Think of it like they're errands you would do for a friend in the real world, but instead in the virtual world, and for a few dollars.

Think about it, people pay for services in the real world all the time. Iron my clothes, wash my car, mow my grass. We constantly out source things we don't want to do. This same ideology can be witnessed in video games. People don't want to spend vast amounts of time so they buy and sell in-game currency. Unfortunately this is against the terms of service of most games and will get you banned. However, you can still make money by doing things that won't get you banned.

New players need help with all sorts of things. They'd like to be run through instances, taught how to PVE and PVP and they'd love to read your guides. You are only limited by your creativity. Imagine you're a new player and you don't have a lot of time, what would you pay for? They're just like every other consumer with needs, so let's appease them.

Now there are websites that allow you to offer a service, such as running players through an instance and so on. What you do is up to you, be creative, but most importantly, get paid to play video games! The process is simple: someone purchases your service and the money goes to the website for holding until the service is complete and then the website dispenses the money to you. Registration is free and you don't need to supply personal information so it's really a no-risk situation for you.

Tips to Do a DotA Commentary

If you think you are just watching too much DotA commentary and are bored/sick/tired of the commentator's accent and what so ever, you can easily make you own DotA commentary and upload onto YouTube or other video sharing websites. It is very easy and you should believe me.

This page will teach you how to DIY a DotA commentary video with much ease.

To summarize everything in short. There are few steps to do this.

1. Search for good DotA replays
2. Analyse the replay
3. Recording
4. Editing
5. Rendering
6. Uploading

Search for good DotA replays
It is very very important to search good DotA replay. If the replay do not have exciting gank fight/team fight/turning points, then do not bother about them any more. Normally what I will do is to look through what competitions are going on currently (ADC, WCG, et), usually the highly competitive competition do have a lot of good replays which are freely distributed.

Analyse the replay
Before doing the actual recording, I think it is necessary to know when is the first blood/team fights/gankings/. It is really bad to miss the first blood. It is not necessary to watch the whole replay but knowing when to switch the screen is important. If you are missing a lot of kills, your viewers will not be so happy about it. A good software to use here is the DotA Replay Manager which pretty much save you the time to watch the whole replay. Just google it, then you can easily find it online.

Recording
Recording is the most important part. There are several software (e.g. ViewletCam
Camtasia Studio, Fraps) online allowing to record your screen. The one that I am using is Fraps. It does not matter which software you use, they all have good avi file output. I recommend to set the fps to 15 or 20 with half size. From my personal experience, 15 fps (half size) will output a 4GB file everything 20mins. I suggest you to get at least 20GB just for the recording part because Fraps really output good quality file which is freaking huge. 15 fps (full size) will out a 4GB file every 10mins or less. If you are using this setting, then get at least 50GB free disk space I think.

Commenting
Before doing the recording, it is necessary to do a research on the both teams especially which player is in which role. During the commentary, there isn't a fix way to comment. There are few tips here. Always comment on the following things, line-ups, creeps kills(carry), item build, skill casting sequence, fog dodging, warding and much more to find out yourself.

Editing/Rendering
It is a painful process for me especially the rendering part which usually takes up to half of hours. There is a lot of video editing software out there as well, some are free and some needs to be purchased. I will just name a few you want to try out. Microsoft Movie Editor, Sony Vegas, Adobe Pr, Adobe After Effect. Some compressing software to test out with, WinAVI Video Converter, Easy RealMedia Tools Sorenson Squeeze(VP6, FFmpeg. You can find respective tutorials of different video editing software and manual for compressing software online so I will not be talking on how to use them. One important thing I must say is that try to do a balancing between the quality and file size.

Uploading
There are tons of free video sharing websites online. Youtube is one of the more popular ones but not the only one. I suggest you to try out different sharing website before fixing into one.

5 Ways To Improve Your Scrabble Game

If you're a fairly new player to the classic board game, Scrabble, then unless you're a whiz with words you may find that you're left a little embarrassed, particularly if you're playing with people who've played the game many times before. The remainder of this article will provide you with a few tips and tricks you can use to help improve your very first few games of Scrabble.

Top Tip 1 - Using Two Letter Words

This is one of the easiest ways to increase the number of points you can earn in your Scrabble game. Just because you're playing a word game doesn't mean that you have to come up with the most complex words. There are many two letter words in the English language such as "to", "of", "it", as well as many others, providing you place these words in the right place on the board they can often lead to a good number of points. These shorter words are particularly useful when you are stuck for a new word.

Top Tip 2 - Utilizing The "Q" Words

The letter Q is a high scoring letter in Scrabble, used in the right place this letter can bring you in a lot of points. It's a letter which often instills dread into people when they see it in their own letter set and that's why you should make sure you're prepared by memorizing all the words beginning with the letter Q.

Top Tip 3 - Being Familiar With "Bingo" Words

Making yourself familiar with some of the Scrabble "bingo" words is a great way of getting extra points. The bing words are 6 letter words in Scrabble which, if you add one more letter, can make a full 7 letter word. Again, this is another great tip if you're stuck for words or if someone comes up with a high point word which you can better by adding one letter.

Top Tip 4 - Shuffle Away

It sounds like a strange tip but it's true, if you mix around your letter tiles a few times it can stimulate your brain into coming up with new words which you would otherwise not be thinking of. So when you see your letters for the first time, if you can't think of anything try mixing them up again for a few times to see if any words start to spring to mind.

Top Tip 5 - Read More & Write More

Reading and writing more will improve the English vocabulary in your mind, it will enhance your spelling ability and the ability to come up with new words.

Overall, our top tips for improving your Scrabble game include using two letter words if you're stuck for ideas, coming up with words that start with the word Q, learn the bingo words, shuffle your letters and read more.

Where Are They? (Pachinkos in America)

Many people in America have pachinkos in their basements, garages and attics. But they were put there years ago by parents, or former residents, or maybe they were picked up at garage sales or flea markets. How did these crazy Japanese stand-up pinball machines all end up in America? The history of pachinkos in America is rather surprising.

As the owner of a website devoted to the repair and restoration of pachinkos, I have learned quite a bit about where they are today and how they got there. Utilizing tools such as Google Analytics, I have been able to compile some statistics that let we can use to tell where they are today. Thousands of people have visited my site, and all looking for information on these rather odd-looking games. Where these queries originate, combined with orders and sales data provide a fairly clear picture that I will share with you below. But first, a bit of history on how all of these pachinko machines got here in the first place.

Japanese pachinko parlors for decades only allowed machines to remain in service for about a year before they had to be removed and disposed. This led to huge numbers of used machines available in Japan, and most were simply destroyed. However, it was not unusual for American servicemen to send or bring them back to the states as souvenirs. The numbers that trickled in spread out from our major military installations, but in the 1950's and 1960's these numbers were small, somewhere in the thousands. Few of these pachinkos have survived today.

In the early 1970's a few enterprising gentlemen got a good idea for a use for all of those piles of expired pachinkos. They formed a company called Target Abroad LTD, and started buying them up by the thousands and filling shipping crates with them. They then shipped these crates by the thousands to America, and sold them through major chain stores such as Woolworth, K-Mart, and even Sears. Several other smaller companies quickly formed and opened pachinko specialty stores across the country. Two of the most successful were Pachinko Palace and The Pachinko Factory, and many vintage pachinkos in America today still bear their stickers. Literally millions were sold between 1972 and 1976, but sales began to plummet when video games were invented and then mass- produced. By 1978 nearly all imports of pachinkos to America had ended, and the retailers sold off their inventory and closed their doors forever.

The largest concentration of these vintage pachinko machines in America is California with 16% of the total. While it is true that California is a very populous state, the ports of San Francisco and Los Angeles were the major deliver points for pachinkos shipped from Japan. It only makes sense that many would be sold there.

The second largest concentration is in Illinois at 8%. For decades Chicago was the place where most pinball and arcade machines were manufactured, and the port and transportation infrastructure there was an obvious distribution point for the populations of the Midwest. Even today, vintage pachinkos seem to be abundant in the suburbs there.

The third highest population is Texas at just over 6%. Texas has population going for it, and several good ports as well. Several of the distributors had major outlets in Texas, and the dry climate appears to have preserved the pachinkos in a superior manner.

Next up at number four is New York with 6%. As usual, a state with major ports with access to major population centers. Pinball machines were outlawed for decades in New York, so it seems only natural people would turn to pachinkos as an alternate for of entertainment on boardwalks and arcades. Eventually they found their way into private hands as video games replaced them.

The absolute worst states in the continental United States for pachinkos should be no surprise. North and South Dakota score dead last. No ports, low population, and little general interest in some silly looking pinball games from Japan.

Yellow Light Of Death (PS3 Problems)

Whenever it comes to PS3 problems the yellow light of death has to be one of the most common and hated problems. This can happen to anyone who either over plays their console or has a defected one. If this has happened to you there is nothing to worry about because there are plenty of great ways that you can get your broken console back to working.

PS3 Problems- Yellow Light Of Death Solution #1

One of the first things you can try doing is to turn off your PS3 and wait a little while. This will give your console some time to cool off and it will increase your console's chances of not having the ylod. If you have waited at least 15 minutes and then have turned your console back on and it still doesn't work then you should pull out all of the cords connecting to the back of your console. You should then plug all of them back in and then try to see if anything has changed when you cut your console back on. If none of this helps you then move on to the next solution.

PS3 Problems- Yellow Light Of Death Solution #2

If the first way didn't work out for you still have a few more ways for it get fixed. What many people decide to do is to send their PS3 to Sony so that there console gets repaired. NOT A GOOD IDEA!! Doing this will cost you over a $100. This is a lot compared to fact that it cost around $200-$300 to buy your console. In my mind that $100 should be going toward the next game that is coming. Also when you send your console back to Sony it takes over a month for them to fix it. A MONTH!! What is wrong with that your problem might be something simple like dust blocking the vents in the side which can be fixed very easily. This is a bad option which is why I recommend the next one.

PS3 Problems- Yellow Light Of Death Solution #3

If you don't want to use the second solution, which is what I never in my right mind would use, then I recommend this third option. It involves taking apart you own console and fixing the problem yourself. You may be thinking now "I Can't Do That, It's Way Too Complicated" when it is really not that hard. All that you need to do this are a few household tools and a few things from a hardware store. What you also need to do is go online and find a good, trustworthy guide for fixing your console instead of some cheap and unclear videos on YouTube.

Tips To Get Slicing To Level 400! (SWTOR Slicing Leveling Guide)

In this article we are going to cover the next gathering skill which is called Slicing. Now slicing is fairly unique in relation to all of the gathering and crafting skills because it is pretty much straight forward credits. For instance if you look at Archaeology or Bioanalysis you can use these gathering skills with crafting skills or you can just make the "base" items and sell them on the Galactic Trade Network.

However with slicing you are pretty much making credits by sending out your companion and getting lockboxes in return and you open these up and you will get credits inside. Now the awesome thing about Slicing is that normally you get more credits than it cost you to send your companion out on a mission.

However bear in mind that as of SWTOR patch 1.1 this skill has been adjusted and you will not always make a profit. You will also be able to receive Augments. These augments slot into "critical" gear in the game.

Some Augments include:

Surge Augments

Skill Augments

Shield Augments

Resolve Augments

Reflex Augments

Redoubt Augments

Overkill Augments

Might Augments

Fortitude Augments

Expertise Augments

Command Augments

Alacrity Augments

Absorb Augments

These start off at level 1 and can go right up to Advanced level 25.

These Augments you can either use yourself or make a profit by selling them on the Galactic Trade Network.

Slicing Leveling Guide Levels 1-400:

Now we will move onto how to level Slicing and unlike the other gathering skills like Archaeology and Bioanalysis where you go around the planets and level then up Slicing works a little differently.

The fastest way to level Slicing is just to send your companion out for missions and collect the credits they bring back. If you get Augments you can list these on the Galactic Trade Network. Of course while you are leveling you will find safe boxes, computer systems and more that you can slice to increase the level of the skill as well and normally you will get credits back as well.

To level Slicing to 100 you just send your companion out on all the missions that are available. You will find this takes about 1 hour and the cost of this will be 15,000 credits. Again you will get some credits back and can sell the Augments as well to make a profit.

Slicing Levels 100-200 is more of the same with the rank 2 missions and the only difference is that you will get better quality Augments and also more credits back from the safe boxes as well.

To level Slicing from 100-200 will cost about 25,000 credits.

Slicing leveling from 200-300 is again the same as above but this time with rank 4 missions and you will be spending about 50,000 credits in total to get to 300. Another thing to be mindful of is that the missions will take a lot longer at this stage but you should have more companions that you can send out while you level up and do your missions.

From levels 200-300 it will cost you 50,000 credits!

Slicing up to the level cap from 300 to 400 is the same thing once more. You will get much better Augments and credit rewards but this last piece of leveling can cost 75,000 credits and the times that the missions will take to complete are a lot longer.

Once you have completed this though you will be at level 400 in slicing.

Out of all of the gathering skills this is one of the easier ones to level up because you just need to keep sending your companion out on missions and then reap the rewards!

Rage Does Everything Right

ID Software has come a long way. They became a household name in 1992 with the release of a little title called Wolfenstein, and have since become synonymous with the first-person shooter genre. Prolific titles such as Doom and Quake set the standard for innovative, unique, and fun games, and allowed for a relatively small company to reach a large audience.

In a time where FPS (first person shooter) games are a dime-a-dozen, id Software took it upon themselves to create a game that would simultaneously fill all the necessary quotas, but also reach outside the box. That mindset gave birth to RAGE, a post-apocalyptic shooter that, for better or worse, does exactly what it's supposed to do. The graphics are gorgeous while running at 60 frames-per-second, and the weapon selection is acceptable, though some may find it a tad sparse when compared to other games in the genre.

The selling point for RAGE comes in the form of vehicular combat. Players are able to acquire vehicles through races, bets, and quests, and subsequently outfit them with an array of weapons and gadgets. If guns on your car isn't your thing, you're more than welcome to invest in a beefed-up grill to ram your opponents into pieces. But whatever you decide, you will never feel like you are selling yourself short.

Unfortunately, for all of the things that RAGE does well, it never really reaches beyond the typical confines of the average FPS. It is very much an on-rails shooter, and, except for the moments when you're in a vehicle, you'll never feel like you're free to do whatever you want. From the very beginning of the game, the paths are linear, and the item needed to finish a whatever quest is in progress is always straight ahead. This eventually becomes repetitive, especially when the enemies being fought look and sound exactly the same.

This is not to say that RAGE isn't fun to play - it is. However, some players may yearn for the open-world feel of a game such as Borderlands, which, much to id's chagrin, RAGE has been compared to liberally. What ultimately makes this game stand out is that, at its core, it has "id Software" written all over it: the bosses are huge, the enemies are disturbing, the guns are crazy, and most importantly, there is a ton of fun to be had.

Ways To The Augmented Economy

Technology is growing faster than we are; something that was considered top of the line will be nothing but scrap only a few years in the future. We are learning to adapt, but slowly. Getting an upper hand on new trends before they leave us in the dust is an essential key for the business of the future. Augmented reality is by far something to watch out for over the next few years. The current trends and methods of advertisement are starting to get old and boring to audiences. Commercials are simply skipped over thanks to DVRs, billboards are often disgraced with graffiti or other vandalism that is actually slow becoming a style of art.

Advertisement should be able to grab hold of an audience, and hold their interest until the message gets across to them. Thanks to new expectations, your message can't even take a long amount of time to get across or it might just be ignored in favor of data that's easier to access. Adapting to the new attention span inspired by technology, while still being entertaining for the audience will be essential in the coming years of technological trends. The way to do this seems relatively clear, augmented reality.

Using only a smartphone, a customer will be able to receive data about his surroundings in an instant. By pointing their camera at a building; they can learn of everything the business may be offering. Not only can it grant their hours of operation, but also information on their products. Customer reviews will even be possible, making a good public image even more important than it is now. Making sure your business is up to scale in the public's eye should be a main objective in the next few years.

This is only one aspect of Augmented Reality and how it will affect the way we view products. A different field of the same technology has been titled 'projection mapping'. This method reads the shape of an object, and allows for a business to place imagery on top of the shape. Most likely to be used on large surfaces, this concept will allow businesses to provide visual eye candy that will surely wrap a customer into the experience. The visual displays can be so real that you actually need to make contact with the image to realize it's the product of technology.

Using this, businesses will be able to make their product seem larger than life to their targeted demographic. At first, this will be rather easy, since it will be new and exciting. As more and more businesses catch on, it will become a dramatic battle to see who can make their product the most appealing on an entirely new battlefront.

Solutions GPS and SatNav Pinpoint Accuracy Explained

As the use of SatNav systems increases among the general user population the misconceptions that have arisen on how these systems work are spreading. This article covers one of the author's favourites, the 'fact' or 'common knowledge' that GPS accurately pinpoint you anywhere in the world. This article is aimed at increasing awareness of what is really going on with accuracy.

Well, can anyone define pinpoint accuracy? It must vary as specs for different GPS units state different figures. My new Garmin handheld states less than 10m 95% typical with the proviso 'subject to accuracy degradation to 100m 2DRMS under the US DoD Selective Availability (SA) Program when activated'. I have had it down to saying 3m or even 2m in the higher accuracy differential mode (DGPS). However, whether to believe it or not at these better figures? A survey GPS unit states, Single Point L1 1.8m CEP (most will be explained later).

These figures are very very good, but are they pinpoint?

Let us keep analysing. Perhaps if it is good enough that it doesn't matter, it is pinpoint. If your GPS can get you close enough to use the best navigation system in the world, the Mark I Eyeball, then it has done its job. Depending on light/dark and weather this can range from a few meters to 10 miles or more. Is it pinpoint if it gets you to within 10 miles, where you can see your target, on a clear bright day?

I always thought the definition was, er, the point of a pin, less than 1mm. Only the best GPS left stationary for days will get anywhere near this.

Furthermore many talk of accuracy loosely without understanding. Even I have been loose with the term. There is accuracy, precision or repeatability and resolution, often with cross meanings to different people. Probably that is why many are loose with the term.

When someone says pinpoint I am tempted to ask for a figure and when and how often, resulting in the blank look. This brings in 95%, 2DRMS and CEP. Accuracy is defined as a statistical measure, it is pointless not to. The figure, for example, <10m is maybe the expected under best conditions rather than the average. These best conditions are where in the world there is full coverage and good satellite geometry, their position relative to the receiver. Its all about angle of cut. An example of how often is the 95%, the accepted but not exactly 2 sigma. 95% of recorded positions are expected to be within 10m of the true position. If you wanted 99% that would mean something in the order of maybe 15m. Circular Error Probable (CEP) is 50%.

Now for the anywhere in the world. Due to the orbital inclination you can expect less visible satellites above 55° north and south, less to choose from to obtain the required accuracy position solution. This is not the end for the position is also relative to some reference system and can cause issues if you are combining the use with a map.

GPS works on a reference system that is the best global fit. You may have come across WGS84 Datum. The world has a mathematically horrible shape, all lumpy and bumpy so only a best fit is viable. For some areas this is not a good fit so a different datum is used. Many of these precede GPS. The result is that plotting your WGS84 position on a map of a region of different datum can mean hundreds of meters out. For the car SatNav which is of proprietary manufacture this will be of no consequence as the map would, or should, come already referenced. If navigating with a hand held you need to know the datum for the area. Again the conversion sums are horrible but, no fear, most hand helds have most datums in the software, as long as you know this and where to find them you will be OK.

Essentially that pinpoint is more degraded by plotting on the wrong datum, something not always considered by many.

So there you go. If you arrive safely at your desired destination then the system has done its job. But lets not call it what it isn't.

There are other misconceptions but these are left for a separate article, 'GPS and SatNav. Removing Misconceptions' by the same author.

Solutions Careers in Programming

If you really love programming, you might want to make it your full-time career. You'll be able to make good money designing and coding programs, from low-level embedded systems all the way up to websites. However, this is much more difficult than simply learning a language or two and usually requires a college degree. The reason for this is that if you get a degree, you'll learn far more than just basic info about a language. You'll also learn advanced math and computer science concepts that will improve your coding algorithms.

Additionally, many jobs require a degree. They show to a potential employer that you are knowledgeable about computer programming. This is especially true if you have gotten internships while in college, as that demonstrates that not only do you know theory, but you can actually code and have work experience as well. All in all, getting a programming career will be much easier with a degree in Computer Science or a related field.

If you do get a degree, you should look for jobs in a field that you focused on while in college. For example, if your internships were working with embedded systems programming, it should be easy for you to get a full-time job doing that.

Other people choose to go the freelance route. This lets you "be your own boss", so to speak, since you aren't tied down to any single company. Instead, you work on various programming projects for a variety of people. This allows great flexibility and benefits but also increased risk. You can work when you want and can choose your projects, but you're always looking for new work, since there's no guarantee that there will be additional projects available for you in the future.

It's important to realize that in programming, learning is a lifelong process. New languages and frameworks are constantly being created and today's hottest thing might quickly fall by the wayside soon. For example, web programming has evolved from simple HTML code to the LAMP stack to today's widespread use of web frameworks. Windows programming used to depend extensively on the Win32 libraries, but many programs use .NET now. The mobile platform, formerly based around BlackBerry and Windows Mobile, now is almost exclusively focused on iOS and Android.

Computer programming can be a great career choice, but it isn't an easy one. Not only do you generally need a college degree, but you also need to have a wide scope and knowledge and constantly be expanding it in order to stay employable.

Solutions Stay Safe Online With These

The Internet can be a great tool to use in just about any situation, but it is not without danger. If you do not take the proper measures, it is very easy to end up with viruses, trojan horses, and other nasty programs on your computer that can cripple your ability to use it and even steal personal information. You can prevent this from happening by following some simple steps.

The first step is simple. Do not converse with people over e-mail or social networking sites that you do not personally know. Never give these people any sort of personal information either. Avoid falling for e-mails which seem too good to be true; those that promise large sums of money in return for sending a package overseas. These are potential scams, and your identity can be compromised.

Staying on the topic of e-mail, never open any attachment if you are unsure why you received it. This is how most viruses are spread. Even if a friend sent you the e-mail, if you were not expecting an attachment, be very careful as their computer could be under attack by a virus. The virus could be using their computer as a bot, sending the virus to other people on their e-mail contact list without your friend's knowledge.

Anti-Virus Software

There are also some steps you can take that makes general internet browsing safer as well. Make sure you have a current and highly rated anti-virus software suite installed on your computer. Make sure it is set to update itself daily as well. It is also a good idea to scan your computer for viruses every couple of weeks, even if you think your computer is working normally. The best viruses run behind the scenes are can be very hard to detect without doing a scan.

While anti-virus software will be able to detect the majority of malicious programs, it will not be foolproof, and you should still be careful when it comes to which websites you visit. It is advisable to select secure passwords that are not easily guessed. Select secure, but different passwords for each profile and account, especially financial accounts. This can prevent a hacker from compromising all your accounts using a single password. Also, never share your password with another person for any reason. If you have difficulties remembering different passwords, there are free software programs available that can help you.

Think Before you Click

It is key to be mindful of what you download as well. Clicking pop up ads and links can often lead to bogus websites which download spyware and other tracking software on your computer. Many of these programs are very good at hiding themselves so you might not even know you are being spied on. Avoid downloading "free" pirated software and movies, which can be embedded with harmful viruses and keyloggers that can capture your personal data and send it to another computer.

Now that you are armed with this information, you are well on your way to enjoying a safe online experience.
